Having loved animals all my life, I’ve been lucky enough to work with them in various ways- as a groomer, a veterinary assistant and for an online pet supply retailer. I also have an interest in different dog sports and am currently training 2 of my dogs to show in obedience and canine musical freestyle.
Our goal is to provide other pet owners with real life experience about products they are thinking of using. Along with my input on pet products will also be the input of :
Geo- a 14 year old Border Collie mix. Found in a ditch when he was about 3 months old, Geo has really influenced the way I train my dogs.
Ricochet- a 5 year old Parson Russell Terrier. I adopted Ricochet when he was about 5 months old. He has taught me alot about working with reactive dogs and the amazing amount of energy terriers have. He loves training, toys, food, you name it.
Havoc- a 4 year old Parson Russell Terrier. In no way living up to his name, Havoc is Mr. Mellow. I call him a bad poster child for the breed because he is so laidback. People usually assume he much older than he really is because of this. He was my first show dog, but hated it so much that he gets to enjoy just being a companion now.
Malarky- a 2 1/2 year Parson Russell Terrier. Malarky is so much like Ricochet, it is not even funny except when she gets into trouble she just waits for you to get the joke and laugh along with her. To her everyday is a good day. I have shown Malarky a few times in the breed ring and just need to decide if I am going to continue. In the mean time, we are aiming for the obedience, freestyle and hopefully agility rings.
Tyke- a 14 year old Domestic Long Hair. Tyke was adopted from a shelter when he was just a kitten. He actually lived in my grooming shop for awhile where he always suprised people who came in and said their dog hated cats, yet in the shop would let this cream colored fur ball rub all over them. Now he enjoys being the senior cat in the house and all the perks that go with it.
Omar- a 5 year old Domestic Long Hair. Omar was found laying literally in the street. It was about 3 am and 40 degrees out when I drove past him, he lifted his head up so I stopped the car and put him in the dog crate I had. I dropped him off at my vet hospital and fortunately, there was nothing wrong with him. I really was not planning on adopting him, but of course I did.
Pyro- a 3 year old Siamese mix. I found Pyro on PetFinder and adopted him from the Bucks County SPCA. He is a sweet cat with a lot of patience. He also likes to help with training the dogs by acting as a distraction. There is nothing like having a cat leap at you while you are being recalled to test your obedience.
Bitsa- a 1 1/2 year old Domestic Short Hair. Bitsa was found when she was 2 weeks old sitting and screaming on someone’s lawn. Her one front foot was injured. It has healed and while she can’t retract her claws on that foot, it doesn’t slow her down. Tyke was the last cat I had gotten as a kitten, so Bitsa brought a lot of fun to our house.
Mona- a 5 year old I-don’t-know-what breed rabbit. Mona was a stray that I found. Apparently, let loose by someone who really didn’t care for her welfare, Mona had no problem adding herself to our household.
Smudge- a 4 year old Lop-Eared rabbit. Smudge was adopted from the Luzerne County SPCA. I was so happy that he and Mona bonded in just a few days and they get along wonderfully. He is not as a outgoing as Mona, but I think it is a case of opposites attract.
Sugar – a 5 year old ferret. She was adopted with her sister, Spice, from the Pennsylvania Ferret Club and Shelter . Sugar keeps the group moving and under control. Unfortunately, we lost Spice in March 2007 from insulinoma, a common disorder in ferrets.
Hijinx- a 2 year old ferret. Hijinx is probably the most bonded to me. I am working on clicker training her to do some different things.
Sprite- a 2 year old ferret. Sprite was adopted from Tiny Prints On The Heart Ferret Shelter . Her original owner had left her alone for a couple weeks while gone out of town. Fortunately, someone recognized that this was not a good life for a ferret or any pet for that matter.
Delfina- a 2 year old ferret. Delfina was brought to my workplace after her owner found out how much care a ferret needed. Delfina fit in very well with the rest of my business (what a group of ferrets is called) and has been the life of the party ever since.
